Malacca Tour with friends in Taylors
Malacca is beautful enough to be listed as the world cultural heritage site.Malacca is located between the Indian Ocean and East of Asia. I think it is perfect as the center of trade between Europe and Asia. Hence, Malacca was colonized by the Dutch and the Portuguese.Sit lo, we can see the influence of Eastern and Western culture all see in one place. This is very attractive. I think if we were to study a little about Malacca’s history, we will find out about the beautiful past of Malacca. Although Malacca has a painful history, this would seem cool in the eyes of the tourists as we will experience the complete history of magical city even through the ruins.
we took a picture wearing Baju Kurung with homestay mama and Sophie.
When we went to Malacca for the homestay, all the girls wore the traditonal clothes of Malaysia. Malaysia has two types of female clothes, Baju Kurung and Baju Kebaya. But we only wore Baju Kurung. Some part of it is similar and some part is different than Hanbok, the Korean traditional clothes. Hanbok has a short top and long bottom, but the Baju Kurung has a long top and long bottom. But both of these clothes are very loose. Malacca’s hot and humid weather made us feel tired but by wearing Baju Kurung we felt better.
Baju Kurung is the name for the attire for female clothes. The female dress is referred to as Baju Kurung, while the male dress is referred to as Baju Melayu. And it is one of the traditional clothes in Malaysia. Not only is it the national dress of Malaysia and Brunei, it also can be found in Singapore and Thailand.
When I wore the Baju Kurung for the first time, it was too hot. At first I could not understand why Malaysians wore uncomfortable clothes. However, over time, I felt better and I finally understood why they wore this. It’s well ventilated and comfortable. Malacca’s weather is very different than Korea. It was a very good experience wearing the Baju Kurung.
In Malaysia, another type of traditional clothes is Baju Kebaya. When I went for the Malacca tour, I saw women that wore this splendid costume. Their costumes are very beautiful and they also have a nice body. Baju Kebaya emphasizes your body shape. And Baju Kebaya is a tight-fitting blouse- dress combination. If I have a curvaceous body, I will try the Baju Kebaya. But I do not so I didn’t wear it.
Normal Baju Kebaya
Beautiful Baju Kebaya
The word Kebaya comes from the Arab word "abaya". The Arabic word abaya means "clothing".
Sexy Baju Kebaya
Baju Kebaya came from Indonesia but it suits women in Malaysia, Burma, Singapore, and southern Thailand. The costumes’s material is a type of sheer material like thin cotton, silk, semi-transparent nylon, polyester and decorated floral pattern and brocade embroidery. Generally, a kebaya matches a sarong or other traditionally created garment such as ikat songket with a colorful design.
The Malacca Christ Church was built in 1741.This church was built as a place of worship as they did not have any church for themselves apart from the small chapel established by the Portuguese. This church is one of the most attractive building in Malacca that has gone through a few stages of change under the governing of different colonials.
When we went to Malacca, we could see the big red building. It is the Malacca Christ Church. It was the most beautiful building among others because the color of the outer wall enhances the beauty of the building. Because of this, the bright red structure is the church is built in Dutch architecture style. The interior of The Christ Church creates a stately atmosphere, very grand and so nice.
The arched windows inside the church were beautiful. So, the interior is also surprisingly practical and spacious. However there is an important difference there, because there was such a solemnity and sacredness. Otherwise, most of the churches in Korea was relatively active and energetic. It was just a different vibe here in Malacca.
This white church is look like innocent and clean image.
St. Francis Xavier Church was built by Father Farvé, in 1856, in honor of St. Francis Xavier. This church was once the largest church built by a foreign company in Malaysia. It was built on the land which once belonged to Portuese.
Looking it from a distance, this church was patterned according to the Neo Gothic architecture. Neo Gothic style of spire and arch were indication that this church has flamboyant French inspired architecture.
However, this church is different in color when compared to all the other buildings around it such as restaurants and churches which were red in color. When I look at this church, I feel that it is very different I became curious why only this church is white, and the answer is this church is affected by the Portuguse colonization. I feeling of that this is veert similar to Korean architexture which is affected by Japanese culture. This is because Korea was once colonized by Japan. I think that St. Francis Xavier Church is very wonderful church and a must see for tourists.
